Our Nursery Curriculum

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at King’s Oak Primary School gives children the opportunity to experience the very best possible start to their education. We ensure that our children establish solid foundations on which they can build for their future learning journey. This ensures that they continue to flourish throughout their school years and beyond. The EYFS prepares children for learning in Key Stage 1 and the KS1 National Curriculum.

EYFS Areas of Learning

In Nursery, all learning follows the Foundation curriculum which is known as the Early Years Foundation Stage. The Foundation curriculum offers many opportunities for children to develop through adult led, adult structured and child initiated activities.

Built into these are Early Learning Goals which are not a curriculum in themselves but establish expectations for most children to reach by the close of the Foundation stage.

The curriculum is designed such that transition into Reception from Nursery and Year 1 from Reception, ensures continuity, progression and security.
